ATS Desktop Apps major update for all desktop apps v20250220

Current ATS Desktop Apps Prerequisite: .NET 8 Desktop Runtime

ATS Windows desktop apps require Microsoft .NET 8 Desktop Runtime (x64). Install the current serviced .NET 8 Desktop Runtime from the ATS download instructions or Microsoft’s .NET 8 download page, choosing Windows Desktop Runtime — Windows x64. Downloading the file alone does not install it: open the installer, complete installation and reopen the ATS app.

.NET Desktop Runtime is different from .NET Framework, the SDK and ASP.NET Core Runtime. A later major runtime should not be assumed to replace the .NET 8 runtime required by the app. If a current app still asks for another runtime, report the app name and exact message to ATS support.

Choose Self-Assisted or One-to-One Assisted Setup

If installation is difficult or you prefer someone to guide you, there are two routes. Self-assisted: follow the ATS Desktop Apps installation guide, one step at a time, with ATS Help Bot and technical support for supported issues. Get assisted: explore optional paid one-to-one onboarding and setup from independent ATS Ecosystem providers.

Ecosystem providers may help with ATS account onboarding, NinjaTrader and ATS installation, connections, licence sync and workspace setup. Review services, pricing and booking options through the ATS Ecosystem. Providers set their own terms; personal setup sessions are not automatically included with an AFT Essentials purchase. You can be experienced in trading and still choose personal help with the technology.

ATS Desktop Apps is an update for all desktop applications as it moves from cloud-based ClickOnce deployment to local installation. This applies to:

  • AFT-Desktop
  • AWT-Desktop
  • NT-BootStrapper

AFT8 for NinjaTrader now communicates with these apps on a locally installed basis instead of cloud launch and run, which provides a far better experience. Going forward, we will be updating to the latest Windows UI technology ahead of any future NinjaTrader desktop move from WPF to WinUI. This allows us to embrace the latest cutting-edge technology and stay ahead of the curve. New installers and updating methods will replace the now legacy WPF desktop and MSI installer technology.

ATS Desktop Apps version 2025.2.20 will fetch all the latest updates for the ATS/AFT/AWT suite of desktop trading systems and tools. The ATS Desktop Apps installer will download the following installers to your “downloads/algotradingsystems” folder:

  • ATS.AFT8.BootStrapper.Desktop

Each installer will be run and installed. If your system requires .NET 8.0, it will be installed, but there are caveats to look for!

.NET 8 Desktop Runtime

The ATS Desktop Apps installer will also install the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime used to power ATS desktop apps; use the current serviced .NET 8 release supplied through the current download instructions. During installation, Windows will display a UAC warning when installing the .NET 8 package. Due to a Windows bug with MSI, this can hide the “Shield” minimized on the taskbar and can be easily missed. You will need to click to accept the installation of .NET 8, or the installers will wait and cycle until canceled, as they cannot complete until the UAC permission is received by the user or declined.

Release Notes

  1. AFT8 License modes are enforced – real-time indicator plots will become invisible, signals and alerts disabled, algo entry and trade manager automation disabled.
  2. AFT8 can now be installed with no licenses or desktop apps and works with no license notifications for Sim, NT Demo, replay non-live trading, non-prop firm modes.
  3. Apex Prop Firm and Bulenox are supported for Evaluation trading for the Get Funded Accelerator save 80% + an additional promo code on top!
    1. For all other modes of prop firm or live trading, a license is required.
  4. Tracing and error message logging are now separated and accessible in the NinjaTrader Trace folder “\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\trace”.
  5. NinjaTrader Alert Window “AFT8 License Alert” will pop up once for each NinjaTrader session if licenses are required.
  6. AFT8 License Alerts details notes will be saved to the folder “\Documents\AlgoFuturesTrader\Docs” and pop up in a default web browser.
  7. AFT8 Code: Core optimization and error handling routines have been refactored for best speed, reliability, and local trace/error reporting.
  8. Indicators
    1. Indicator: Alpha PSAR – our interpretation of the PSAR has a new parameter “Trend Mode” added which allows a variant method for trend reversal calculation – this looks super awesome, check it out!
    2. Indicator: Dynamic Trend – removes some parameters and adds in PSAR Template for the secondary trend mode via settings template – create a PSAR template and use it in the Dynamic Trend for ease.
    3. Indicator: Generic Signals:
      1. New Rule 20: “Evolving Market Profile” Crossover on the Session Fib Grid Profile: Year, Month, Week, and Day – you need to switch on Market Profile Mode in the FibGrid.
      2. Fixes to Trade Signal Mode 1 – count of rules as a percentage bias.
      3. Fixes to Rule 19 – SFG-VWAP Crossover.
  9. AFT Workspaces are all available on day 1 of signup and a trader can go at their own pace and decide which one to install when they are ready.
  10. AFT VIP workspaces are provided in the Installer AFT Workspaces no4 and will sync updates to the local machine for VIP.
    1. BaseLine Futures Fully Automated Trading Systems “AFT8-Algos-BaseLine-004” has no charts at all, only the Algo Entry and Exits running.
    2. AFT8-Algos-BaseLine-003 has charts with rotating tabs the same as the algo server and a handful of indices on session breakout.
  11. Note: For Lifetime Owners who do not run the maintenance, the full feature of Trade Management will still work for live account trading. The Algo Entry Module will require renewal for live account trading and prop firm trading.

AFT v20240528 Hot Fixes for NinjaTrader Automated Trading

  1. Smoother startup and loading process – allows NT8 to start up and AFT8 to load before performing license checks.
  2. Previous versions of AFT8 would display a notice if a trader installed and used it in sim/demo mode without licenses. This has been changed to a notice that will only appear if NT is not a valid user license and there are connections to a live account or an unknown demo/prop evaluation account.
  3. Loading of licenses and verifications allows NT to start and load before checking.
  4. Popup notifications for license issues will only occur once per session of NinjaTrader Desktop after each restart. Components will display license issues if relevant.
  5. AFT Desktop and AWT Desktop are not started if they are not installed. If a user is using them for live trading or sim, there will be no attempt at loading or installation of desktop apps. This is purely left to the trader to follow and read the instructions in the popup or website get started info.
  6. As of this release, Apex Prop Firm support is enabled for free evaluation. Other prop firms require a license, free for users who use the ATS coupon.
  7. TradOvate prop firm support requires a license as there is no way to distinguish between a SIM and a prop firm account.
  8. AFT8 is free for Sim, Replay, BackTest, Historical, and TradOvate Demo accounts to allow a trader to view NinjaTrader Web and NinjaTrader Desktop simultaneously.
  9. AFT8 requires a license for all prop firms’ evaluation and performance, live real cash, or unknown demo accounts.
  10. AFT8 comes with a full live trading 7-day trial out of the box, accessible via downloading the AFT.Desktop app to sync the licenses.
